The urge to communicate visually was present from an early age, and I was lucky to have a family that supported my love of the arts. Many of my childhood summer nights were spent drawing until the early hours of the morning.
When I reached the end of my high school years, I moved to Joplin, Missouri, where I studied drawing on a fine art scholarship. It was during this time that I accepted my first professional job as a Website Technologist, and eventually went on to work briefly as a Software Technician.
A short time later, I re-located to Springfield, Missouri - where I changed my degree emphasis to graphic design and had the privilege of studying under some of the most talented typography and design instructors the industry has to offer. I spent the entirety of this time working first as a Website Technologist, then as a Graphic Designer and Photographer for the University’s Publications and Marketing Department.
After college, I began working in a rapidly expanding e-commerce department, which had outgrown its ability to meet its own demand for product images and graphic design resources.
Within my first year, I successfully lobbied for the space, budget and resources to create an in-house photography studio capable of meeting their needs.
Over the course of about two years, I have successfully managed to bring an entire creative department to life that had never existed before.
I now direct all functions of the department and supervise one to two employees, in addition to creating graphics and providing strategic creative insight.
