Basic Info
I'm Awesome
Hello, I'm Marci(l)e Powers. I often find that people find me strange or avant-garde. I think that this comes from trying things a different way than they had been done before. That's where a lot of what I create comes from. I have a desire to experiment and learn while in the process of making a work. This can be seen across the different medias I work with.

I enjoy hearing feedback and especially personifications from my abstract mixed media pieces. At the heart of all art is the hope to achieve catharsis in the audience. I hope that you find my art as healing as I found making it.

The Vocabulary of Dissent
The Vocabulary of Dissent is an alternative to riots. The show concept was meant to wake people by putting extremely metaphoric images in front of them that helped them to wonder about what is happening beyond their personal space. Most people in America and other developed nations live their lives believing that there is no reason anyone would have to hurt them.

In current times, the useless dangers to the planet and human life either scream mal intent or shear stupidity in leadership. The governmental leaders are becoming caught discussing how their formal meetings are staged. With Wikileaks, people are waking up to the fact that their authority figures are lying to them and endangering them and their loved ones for economic profit.

The military based economy of the United States will lead us into downfall as Eisenhower wrote. America needs ingenuity; the world needs innovation to help sustain the human race. The Vocabulary of Dissent is another one of those wake up calls going on globally across the world.

My Work Experience
I have been honored in my life to work for mostly non-profit entities. From my first video-editing job for 1420, a non-profit sustainable energy organization to my current fulltime position at Manatee County Rural Health Services, Inc. I enjoy everything from working with the client for ideas down to the copywriting and messaging. Campaign season always tends to bring out my love for this strange art form.

Aside from directing actors, I truly enjoy the art department. I love production design, costuming, prop making and art direction. It is the challenge to take something that someone only has in his or her head and to make it come alive. This skill also becomes vital while working with design clients.

I am a multidisciplinary artist who loves technology. My study in interactive and immersive cinema at the Media Convergence Lab, a business partner of UCF, under Chris Stapleton granted me the abilities to dream of new arts. As a person whose core is rooted in the ability to experiment while creating, this was my dream come true.

I have a passionate love for the art of storytelling and find different cultures alternative practices fascinating. I believe through empathetic storytelling the psyche is healed. In healing our psyches, we could solve many of the absent problems we create through blocks and obsolete systems of tradition in our global society.
